Yes, they love David Walliams, Anh Do, Dog Man, Baby-Sitters Club, Alice-Miranda and Stacy Gregg. Classics like Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden have stood the test of time.
Never underestimate the power of fantasy in dealing with reality – humans have been telling stories for thousands of years to deal with the good, the bad and the unexpected in their lives. Not for nothing do JK Rowling and Rick Riordan make strong use of classical mythology, whilst Neil Gaiman has made Norse legends his own. Of course Tolkien did it years ago, and The Hobbit is as brilliant as ever.
